Reception for "Sunshine and Shadow"
This has been a real intense time of exposure in Bethlehem PA. Not only do I have a room at the "More Serious Business" Show at the Fowler Center in the southside, I have my work at the Bethlehem City Hall Rotunda for the month of Sept. The reception is this Sunday from 2-4. Since I was having two shows at once, I decided to show local landscapes at the Rotunda and still life with a childhood memory theme at the Fowler Center.
This painting is a plein air called "Morning on Whiteoak Street." It is typical of the color and contrast that has become my style.

Hot Again
This summer has been a record one and I've been painting mostly inside. I have a room in the More Serious Business Show opening on Sept 3rd in the Fowler Center in Southside Bethlehem. I have decided to show my still life series of childhood memories called "Bright Memories." This piece is called "Cupcake"a perfect cupcake in a Fiesta ware bowl.

Plein air painting
It has been so hot lately that I have been working inside, but there has been a break in the heat and sun, so yesterday and today I painted outside. One of my favorite places to paint is in the historic Moravian section of Bethlehem. This narrow charming street is between the original Moravian church and the new one. The clouds covered the sun most of the time and it even rained a bit, so this does not have the high contrast lighting that I can control in my studio.

Third Juried Show at Rehoboth Art League
Last night was the opening of the Rehoboth Art League's Third Juried Show. I was pleased to have one of my paintings accepted. It is titled "Sorted Marbles"(pictured here) and is from my Bright Memories Series which I began this winter working on my kitchen table as it was the brightest spot in the house. The show is great. My personal favorite is the large fireworks painting by Paul Rendel.
